Default 02 powerless when pulling trailer?

I have an 02 with a 5 speed trans. The truck runs really good without any weight behind it. I've never really pulled much with the truck. Well the past few days I have been pulling a rhino on a flatbed trailer scouting for my elk hunt. Going up fairly steep hills I will go 55-60 sometimes even 50 and this is on the mat. My EGT is around 1100, boost is at 16-18 (usual) and my fuel pressure is around 9-8 PSI. Can anyone shed some light on the problem? I feel like the stock Cummins Diesel should have more power than that.

Thanks,
Rhett

WOOOOaaa!!! your FP should be higher in My oppinon, to me it sounds like you may have a dirty fuel filter or a weak lift pump.. A dirty Fuel filter will take away power, so will the weak lift pump but I would replace the fuel fulter first because it will hinder fuel pressure..

Just from my experience when my FP drops below ten at acceleration and sit at 14psi at idle my filter ready to be changed..

if you don't get your fuel pressure up to above 10 psi under heavy load you might be replacing a VP in the future.

Yea you may need a lift pump, but if you have not replaced your fuel filter within the last 8K you may want to try and replace if first, then if it does not correct the issue move on to the lift pump, both are easyily done..
