An update for the sake of group knowledge:

replaced the vp44
rebuilt the ecm
apps tested

$3000+ in repairs & 3 months wasted
doing the same thing as before

got my truck back from the shop a few days ago, and was finally able to really see what the symptoms are. before i had it towed to the shop, i was scared to do much for fear of making the problem worse.

i drove it nearly 100 miles home and this is the only symptom:
idles at 500rpm no matter how much i press the pedal, it only goes up to 900 rpm and stays there. 500 or 900. nothing else. everything else works just as before.

different rpm but the same problem as this guy talked about in this archived thread:

so there it is. i'm sick about it. don't know anything else to do.

Put a P pump on it and be done with it

 

TPS issues. Or find a harness. Sucks and labor intensive but if you use it minimally it might be worth it.
