Easy way to remove the Fuel shutoff solenoid. Remove the
3 bolts holding the accelerator linkage and let it drop down.
Take the two leads off the solenoid. With needlenose
visegrips clamp onto the barrel of the solenoid with minimum
pressure. The solenoid is easy to nudge open. No need to mess
with that flange that is partially in the way.

Smile Successful repair job 1993 D250

Just wanted to let everyone know...had a no start problem
with my 93 D250 (Cummins). I finally took it to Paul's
auto repair in Tucson and He fixed the problem. No parts
needed replacement. He adjusted the accelerator position
linkage and the truck runs like a champ! I have learned that
some of the parts that are really expensive are a lot cheaper
from Volkswagen which use the same parts.

I decided to install a universal choke cable instead
of spending $110 on a shutoff solenoid. The cable
shuts the engine off just fine. A week later the
shutoff solenoid starting working again. Problem
really solved.
