Default Pyro Wiring

I got a new thermocouple for my pyro because my gauge was only working when it wanted to. I just simply attached the lead wires to the thermocouple connectors with the terminals provided but when I stripped some of the insulation back that covers both wires I found a solid copper wire in with the read and yellow insulated wires? Not a big fan of wiring, just wondering if anybody knows where this is should go?

Not sure, but the gauge didnt work at all after I hooked it to the new thermocouple. When I disconnected the old setup the solid wire was not hooked to anything. I will try running a ground to it tonight and see what happens.

Must be an insulating wire like you said. Just had to connect the terminals a little better and she works good now. Thanks Guys.
