Default annother many issues thread :(

alright i will start with the most important, i am having some issues with my breaks i replaced my pads and rotors about 500 miles ago, ever since then the left side has squeaked and pulled really hard when they get hot from stopping at lights and such, and when i take off it still squeaks like its still rubbng for about 100 feet then it stops. the brake light is on constantly and so is the anti-lock, my only idea is maybe the caliper isnt returning to where is is supposed to after i let off causing them to get very hot, then squeak and its only on the left side so my question is what causes the brake light and anti-lock to come on other then the parking brake and holding the brake down for x amout of time?

second, is the power steering i replaced the seal on the pump last winter and i noticed it has started to leak already again it has left decent sized puddles in my drive way, so what could cause the seal to go bad so fast? and is there a more permanant fix or should i just make it a habit to replace it once a year?

third, how do you find out what axle is under the truck the door doesent say and neither does under the hood, is there any markings to tell on the axle?

thanks guys so much ya'll always are a huge help!!

Your caliper does sound bad, and awhile back my truck
Did the same thing. My lights stayed on after the fix, it was the abs
sensor on top of the rear axle it was less than a $20 fix

These are the old calipers? If they are, is likely that the piston is not regressing because rust between the piston and rubber seal? Or excessive wear and gets stuck not moving back. They only move less than an 1/8" from braking to rest position

P steering. Are you sure that when you installed the previous seal went in smooth and and with no damage ? Just curios

You're going to need calipers at the minimum. Mine was doing the same when I bought it. Did calipers and lines, booster and master. The abs light can be a few things mine was on too. Mine was because of air at the abs pump did you bleed the pump after bleeding the rear wheel cylinders?

haha they are the stock calipers so thats y i just kinda assumed to start there they are 20 years old now and never been replaced, almost nothing on this truck mechanical wise has been replaced, not many ford or chevy owners can say that but in all seriousness it is time to do all seals, and check all wheel berrings, go through the electricle system, make shure the kdp fix is done, are there any options other then stock for headlights? because i am getting kinda tired of replacing the whole bulb every time is there anything led out there or anything like that?

Give me some time to get to the local napa, they have 5x7 replacements from trucklite that use multi reflected surfaces with a cap over the bulb mimicking newer headlights and you can replace the bulbs only. I know it's a popular thing with the big rigs. I'll get the part number.
