I've always had a little trouble with the wiring on my ol beast but all I had to do was wiggle the wires and things would go back to normal. The other night I had the issue and did the same as usual this time they didnt come on. So i inspected further and found that the box the headlight switch plugs into had melted. I got some female blade connections and took out the box thing there was a short in the box but i was wrong apperently. All of the wires are cool except for the running lights wire I checked the wires going into my lights and everything seemed ok. So I am kinda assuming that it is under the dash or right out of the main connector. The wire is pink with a red stripe but I can't seem to find it on the other side of the firewall to trace that particular wire further. Does anybody know if it changes color through the firewall?

 

More than likely, wire colors don't always correspond thru the bulk head. Pink with a red tracer sounds familiar for some reason, get a decent wiring diagram and start tracing on paper.
