trans preheater ?
I havent got a FSM yet so what is the tank on the pass side of motor with coolant and trans lines coming out . is it critical or can you ditch it when it rots out? Ive had lots of dodge gassers w 727s and have never seen somethig like this.
It's a heat exchanger. Don't know if it's intended for tranny warming in cold weather so much as cooling, though. I only dealt with it one time, way-back-when, when the hose ruptured, and I left a several-block-long trail of ATF behind.
I believe it's dual purpose, durring winter while movin the ATF will heat up faster than the coolant so it aids in coolant warm up for in cab heat. But while pulling heavy loads it increases the cooling capacity of the transmission as it uses the whole engine cooling system. Not critical tho.

Dodge discontinued it. When I had problems with mine the dealership told me to just install an aftermarket cooler and scrap the whole shebang. To reroute the coolant line is easy as pie just need 8-10 in length of 5/8 hose. Hope this helps
