So it being welded to the frame it's the right height to be in line with the pump is what I'm trying to say I guess

i cant recall if its inline. having the ball and stud you can off set it.

i have a question about your fuel pump issue.
Where you using a spacer?

I did not use a spacer. and sorry i do not have a VE pump. Mine was destroyed beyond repair

Thanks for the reply on the VE.
If you didn't use a spacer for your 2nd gen lift pump, that is why you kept breakin them. There should be a spacer between the fuel pump and the block(part #3914284) and a gasket on either side( part #3931348)

yupi put a fuel heater on mine cause thats how it all plumbed up and it works as the spacer. but i didnt hook the electrical up on the heater
