Default Timing

So I just swapped a non i/c pump on to my '93. It runs and everything but how do I now that the timing is right? I didn't lock it when it came off the old engine I just spun the shaft so it would match the gear. Should I yank it off and lock it to tdc on the old motor and then reinstall it?

VE pumps only go on one way. and that way is with the key lined up. provided you didnt move the gear the timing should be there. unlike the inline pumps where you have infinite possibilities.
