Default Trans Case Differences

I have a 93 w250, and Im thinking about building a bigger, better, tougher, etc. transmission for it (its an auto BTW). Anyway, my question is, I have a burned up 47RE sitting at the shop, are the cases the same between my year and this one? The burned up trans is out of a 97. I know I would have to change the overdrive housings, but would I be able to build this 47RE case to be a 518 for my truck? They are all basically a Torqueflite that they bolted an OD unit onto arent they? Or would I be better off to find an actual 518 case to build? Most any input would be appreciated.

As far as I know the case patterns were the same until Dodge changed to the 48 series tranny? Someone with more knowledge than me should chime in....
