Dana 60 question
So I used the D60 out of the 91.5 donor truck in my conversion, which had the adjustable lower kingpins in it. I put new upper kingpin bushings in and new spring on the drivers side and have a high steer arm with the set screw for tension on the passenger side, after which I leveled out the axle on a jack stand and bottle jack and used a torpedo level on the side of the discs to set the king pins. The passenger side has stayed where I set it just fine, but the drivers side is another story.....I have reset it four different times now and after a day or so of driving(sometimes less) the top of the tire moves inward. The last time I over-adjusted it and it stayed pretty close to straight for a week or so and has now worked back to looking like a slammed ricer tire again.
Has anyone else had this problem before? I have a feeling I need to buy new non adjustable lower kingpins but figured I would ask here first.

the only thing that could really cause that is a worn out lower bushing on the bottom side if you just did the top. and the way to adjust the king pin up top if to take off the tire loosen it up, and then slow tighten until there is just enough resistance when trying to turn the rotor that you can still turn it by hand. you want it as tight as it can go by still being able to turn the rotor by hand. if you can no longer turn it by hand its too tight and if you can throw it back and forth no problem then its obviously too loose. make sure your tie rod is off when your doing it too
For adjusting the upper you are talking about the set screw in the high steer arm correct? And how do I get to the lower bushing? I took the four bolts and the plate off the last time I adjusted it and ended up with just the adjustable kingpin bolt sticking out but couldn't tell how to take it out. Thanks.
yes you use the set screw to adjust the upper. i dont really understand what you say with an adjustable kingpin on the bottom mine just uses a nylon bushing like the top does ive never seen an adjustable one. a kingpin being adjustable kind of eliminates the whole idea of a kingpin
This is the kit that it has in it. you turn the shaft with the hex part above the greese zerk to adjust your camber and then tighten the jam nut over it.
That is a aftermarket part, I believe that the Chevy, Ford and Dodge use the same lower kingpins factory. I'm gonna tear it apart this weekend and check it out, but if the lower bearing was shot would it cause that to happen?
