thats what im saying... it wont crank, when it does crank it will start, but when the key (the ignition we dont have) looses power the truck and gauges will shut down, and it will not CRANK (the starter wont turn the engine over due to no power)

Have your other half work the key while you tap on the starter. There's a good chance the solenoid or the starter motor's brushes are done. It's not uncommon at all and a cheap fix if you do it yourself.
