HELP!!! Steering problems!
I have a problem,
My 89 Cummins 250 2WD will not drive right. Since I purchased it the steering has gotten worse and worse. When you are driving above 45mph, the truck veers all over the road. I had enough of that and had a whole new front end put in it to the tune of $900. it is worse than it was now, and the "dead zone" in the steering has grown. I really don't want to end up in the ditch, so does anybody have any advice?
The new parts in the front end are as follows:
all 4 ball joints
pitman arm
tie rods
just about everything
Thanks

The answer to your problems is in this thread someplace. Just read through it and see which one applies to you. Any questions be sure to post in the thread for the next guy to see. https://www.dieselbombers.com/5-9l-2...d-rebuild.html
its probably that stupid factory steering shaft they have been known to where out with as little as 4000 miles on them, when i got my truck that shaft joint was shot and i could turn my wheel 180* before it would respond. if it is bad get a borgeson steering shaft dont buy the oem fix
definatly sounds like the steering shaft . there is a stupid little joint at the box that wears out quick and will make your truck steer like S#!% the rebuild is about 10 bucks but agree you would be happier with the borgeson shaft . I just put one on my truck night and day difference
