Sorry, but I felt that needed to be said. If it was anyone other than an Amsoil salesman I might have put it differently. Some people have alot of money in their trucks and Amsoil products are not inexpensive, by any means. Might as well at least get the right oil if you are going to spend that kind of money.

heath is no different than me!
i sell to people all day long who have alot of $ in there trucks!
and my Products are not cheep either!

and i do agree with you that you want the right thing for your money but putting amsoil
5W-30 in the trany ain't gona hurt it i have been running it for years!
now if he suggested 75-90 or something this would be different the 5W-30 will work just fine all tho some people might recommend the synchromesh.

It's possible the lookup guide could be wrong. I can bring it to their attention, but if it's there, it's because that's the comparable fluid to what the manufacturer recommends. Doesn't mean something else can't be used.

The lookup guide is not wrong. It's not exactly "right" anymore, either. You can run ATF or 5w/30 (Mopar spec from the time), among other things. Some have run gear oil in them and evidently gotten way with it, at least for awhile. Some have reported great results with a straight 50w. Various weights of MTLs are out there too. Environment has a bearing on the choice as well. All will work to some degree.

Which is best now?
