Why not just wire in a relay from the parts store?

Got a regulator that woorks guys. Turns out the cheeper reg has no paint on it and so far is charging perfect. Shouldn't brag probably jinx myself .Running with my heater relays unhooked still. At least it's warm outside. Probably won't need em till next winter.I hope!! Does the parts house sell relays that large I mean they look realy heavy duty and take heavy gauge wire.

The problem with using a standard relay is that a standard relay is spec'ed to around 30 amps; the grid heaters are more than that. 50 amps a piece, right? You'd probably get a voltage drop across the relay just because it's not big enough.

Ya I didn't think I had ever seen an aftermarket relay that large. What do u think about 2nd gen relays. They are still available. From the dealership.

ON THOSE EXTERNAL VOLTAGE REGS IF YOU DONT USE THE PROPER, OR GOOD TERMINALS AND YOU GET A LOOSE CONNECTION THE CUTTING IN AN OUT ON THE FIELD WIRE WILL BURN OUT THOSE CRAPPY NAPA ONES ...I GUESS HIGH RESISTANCE FROM A ARCING TERMINAL WILL DO IT IN....ANOTHER POST SUGGESTED GETTING A TERMINAL FROM THE HEAD LIGHT HARNESS PLUG FROM ANTHER TYPE OF TRUCK......I JUST SOLDERED MINE ON THE BENCH WITH SOME # 12 WIRE AND THIS ONE HAS LASTED ABOUT A YEAR

ford external/firewall mounted starter relay will work great.

Also you can try rebuilding yours....
