Default getrag top cover question

ok so i changed out my top cover the other day when my old one crapped out. when i took my old one off, there was no gasket between the top cover and the housing, and it never leaked with the 90w that was in there. but now that i have a synthetic oil in there its leaking.

does anyone know if there is supposed to be a gasket inbetween the two or not?

do you know if its supposed to use it normally? or did you just do it for extra protection

Would you rely on a pull-out method or wrap it?
The extra protection is worth the headache that comes from not using it.

Early getrags used no gasket...

Later there was a TSB about leaks (amazing... no gasket and now we have leaks), so later Getrags got a gasket as well as some older ones had gaskets installed...

the gasket acts as a shim and a seal it holds the shift forks up off the collars to prevent premature where and also seals the top of the case
