Default garret turbo

i was thinking of getting a garret..but which one would be best for dd/towing? and how come no one uses them?

for experience with garret turbos they aren't worth it the oil seals and bearign go out alot. Its on of the problems with powerstrokes. and the 72 and 92 series detroit's. i have had to change alot of garret turbos out.
