Default brakes

In the snow when I try to stop the front wheels lock up and I will slide. If I put the truck in neutral it stops ok. I've put a new master cyl on it because I felt it that was the problem. The brake lines have no air in them and they are adjusted right. The rear brakes don't want to work right. Could it be the anti lock brake valve and does anyone know if I can by-pass the valve and go directly to the the wheel cylinders?

chances are real real good that yer rear brakes are out of adjustment, you need to pull the wheels and drums then clean everything up good with some brake cleaner then free up the self adjusters and put some graphite on them , when you instal the drums back on adjust the brakes up till then just barley start rubbin.

the self adjusters work every time you back up and hit the brakes, they will take up one click every time ..............if they are freed up that is

x2 on Whit's post.

Also these trucks dont have front ABS just rear. Is there any power mods done to the truck. I remember when I first turned up my truck the idle was about 1000 RPM. When trying to stop in mud, snow or wet grass he high idle was enough to push the truck through the front breaks.

I've had the rear brakes apart and done that. I used never seize. Since this weekend i'm going to take it apart again should I replace the self adjusters and use graphite? What is the max wear for the drums? that could be another problem. In order to stop in the snow I have to put the truck in neutral. thanks

anti-sieze will work very well for a while till a bunch of dirt sticks to it so thtas why I say to use the graphite cuz its a dry lube

I dunno about the max wear on the drums just use yer own judgment on that, if there is a big shoulder on em ya may wanna have em turned or replaced

also I will go find a thread on upgrading to a larger brake cylender that will increase braking alot on the rears
