I had similar issues when I bought my 93. Replace the transmission cable then make sure to change the fuel filter. Get the valves adjusted and the pump timed. Change the thermostat and check the level in the radiator. During the winter I have to run a cover over mine to get it to warm up quicker and make sure to plug the truck in below 30 degrees.
