Gasser Diesel Swap
Hey,What problems should I be aware of when swapping out a 91 360 gas engine and auto transmission for a 93 5.9 diesel and auto transmission. Both trucks are Dodge 1 tons with overdrive transmissions.Any major problems? Twistn.
hhhmmmm..... Wiring. I think the gauge clusters are the same. Core support is different for the intercooler. Engine mounts. Should not be too hard as long as you have the ability to handle this project. Just put the trucks side by side and start swapping!
And

And
the TPS for the tranny. And yes there is a computer. Without it your Alt wont charge (vol reg wont work) and you intrement cluster wont work. Just take everything connected to teh engine/tranny

You can wire the alt with an external regulator. Its super easy and reliable. The 91 gasser should have the same grill as the 93 ctd, so getting the intercooler in there should be no problem. The wiring harness is different both in the engine bay and behind the dash. You also have a different message center in the gasser. There are some other differences that aren't critical. The gasser has a d60 in the rear instead of the d70. I'm not sure about the frame. I know my 90 350 gas truck has the smaller frame rails.
