Air Bags, JC Whitney, free shipping

I'm using online discount codes and saving some pretty good money. It's cheaper than getting it local.

Default Like a Rock? Isn't that a Chevy thing?

I had air bags on the rear of my 77 Chevy dually, I liked the ride so much I added a set on my 01 Ram. I keep about 20 psi in 'em to smooth the kick. Rides like a caddy. JC Whitney is about average pricing for the bags, but if you search around for discount codes, you can get free shipping and/or 15-20% off. The springs are so stiff on the heavier trucks, the best you can do is unload the springs with the air bags. Shock absorber changes won't affect the ride on an empty truck, you'll find they have no movement at all until you load the springs down.

The only 3 things that will help are:
1) Drive around with 1000 lbs of ballast in the bed to load the springs
2) Let half the air out of the rear tires
3) Install a set of quality air bags and pressurize them enough to unload the springs.

I wanted to soften mine up too,so I put a 4in skyjacker softride lift on it with new springs all the way around. It does ride far better! If you don't want to go that high they do make 1" and 2" lifts. Check out Rocky Mountain Suspension Products, suspension lift kits, body lifts & accessories. It does require that I have air bags to carry a heavy load. The other option is to go with kelderman air ride, for about $800.00 they will sell you airbags that replace the rear shackle on these trucks. Makes it like the big trucks, and no sacrifice in load capacity.

mine rides like crap as well but it is because i have 8 leaf springs front and back plus a helper spring in the back. needs shocks as the body of them is rusting out. probably wont help very much tho

my 3500 single axle rides like a lumber truck and I know I drove one for a short time. Beats the living stink off your butt so bad your bird dog won't ride with you. I just rode in a buddy's 93 ford one ton, I have ridden in it before and it wasn't as bad as my dodge but it tested your endurance for sure. He just lifted it 4 inches, or was it 8, oh wait it was...... freakin both!!!!! he put in a Kelderman air ride lift. holy clouds for your butt Batman! it rode like my old Ford 3/4 with coils up front and lighter springs in the back. The difference was amazing. Still a truck but my back is soooo much happier. and according to specs it can increase the load capacity of his truck with no bad affects.
