NV4500 swap from a 727
My 727 3 speed auto transmission just went out. I was wondering what all I need for a nv4500 swap?

Or would it be easier to put a getrag 5 speed in it?

the only thing different between doing the swap to a getrag or a nv4500 is you would need a different engine backing plate for the nv4500, but imo it would be well worth it. the rest of the swap parts would be the same.
Found out that converting the manual would take a lot of time. Anybody know if a 47rh would bolt right up to the engine? I can get the t case also. Would this increase the performance by any? What would you guys do the 727 3 speed or the 47rh 4 speed?
yes the 47th would be better because it is a lockup trans where your 727 isnt but again you would have to change the engine backing plate but thats not a big deal. also you would have to shift the OD with a toggle switch as well as the lockup for the TC.
As long as you adjust the rear band properly every 100,000 miles you'll be set! That's why they had the 727 on Hemi's back in the 60's? (somewhere in that era)
Stick to the auto, they last longer and less headaches!
its not hard at all. we have to do the same thing in our drag truck because of the manual valvebody.
