I saw that! I'm still fresh on learning what causes what, but from what you described on your thread it seemed like timing would make sense. Or maybe something with the governor springs in the pump? My only reasoning for that is because they control defueling. Not sure though, just a thought. Good luck on it!
I was going to say that your project is going much faster than mine, but really my truck was running about a month and a half after we started rebuilding the motor. And the time after that was just figuring out the wiring on that darned transmission

Actually, I forgot that my black wire is actually hooked up to a ground that is on the the top of the firewall (engine side). So, here's a recap:
Yellow wire- directly hooked up to the positive battery terminal.
Black wire- hooked up to a ground on the top of the engine side firewall.
Red wire- hooked up to the switched wire on the fuel shutoff solenoid.
I hope that helps.

So apparently my gauges got me into a little trouble Last night when I was out running I did a small takeoff (10psi build up), but I didn't slam it when I took off either, just got a little sideways. Then when I got back to the apartment I did another, but this time I was trying to burn out. It didn't seem to work out too well, and I guess I know why.
There is a part in the transmission that my transmission guy is calling a "sprag" that controls 1st and 2nd gear. He says that the piece is plastic, and that you can't buy an upgraded one. I trust the guy and all, but I can't hardly believe that with all these high performance parts for the transmission alone that there wouldn't be some kind of upgraded (if not billet) piece. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Other than that, roll on people!

Well, some good and bad news.

Let's start with the bad stuff so I can feel better by the end of this post!

Well, I knew it would happen, and it happened real fast. The trans went out on me Friday on my way home from work. Got her home and today got the trans out, really hoping it's just the sprag. While we have her out I'm going to try to get a triple disc TC. I completely forgot that my Dad is going to be gone for a week, so it's going to be two weeks before I can have her running again

However, that gives me the time to just get some other crap out of the way. Friday was also my birthday, and my parents got me a new steering dampener and also a steering box stabilizer, which means that I have plenty of time to install those, as well as the 3.54 rear gear. And some time to find money for the Triple Disc TC

So a mix of good and bad, but I'm really hoping that it just ends well and she's driving by Thanksgiving!

Also, I decided that I would enter her in the December TOTM, so go vote for me! Haha, if all else fails, they are doing a Conversions TOTM in February, so I'll just enter again!

Again, more good news and bad news.
For Bad- the trans problem turned out to actually be the torque converter. Completely shot. Also, Third and another gear (my Dad couldn't remember which) were bad, but third was REAL bad. The numerous third gear take offs from limp mode most likely explains this. Which makes me feel a little better that I didn't blow 1k on a stupid 10PSI launch

So, for good- It was just the torque converter and a couple gears, so I'm getting a triple disc TC and a Transgo shift kit. However, we kind of don't have $1,300 to spend on a triple disc TC right now, so I'm going to have to get a cheaper one, and hopefully just upgrade in the summer. I just want my baby back haha. Also, I got my wiring kit and test port extender from Glow Shift yesterday, and today my new steering dampener as well as steering box stabilizer came in as well So I have a laundry list of fun stuff to work on this weekend. I'm really hoping to have the gauges fully set up, and then I'll move on to the steering stuff including cutting out the fender well so that I can put on my big-ol-tires

I would like to get the trans in next weekend, but I really have no idea if that's possible
Either way, while it's not all the best news, I was looking into about $1,300 just to make it driveable again, but now it's come down enough in price that I'm pretty darn happy.

Did you get the new axles in... ?? are you going down to 4.10s or are the 4.10 already in ?

so you're putting 3.54s on it ?

Hope your transmission turns out okay.... but i'd rather spend my money on a NV4500

I'm not actually switching axles. Just the gears. I'm swapping the rear ones tonight. I got a whole lot of other stuff done last night, and now all I have left is finish wiring up my gauges and put in the rear gears. Which are going to be 3.54s. 4.10s suck!
I am going to call my tranny guy in a bit and see what's goin on with mine. I doubt it, but I really hope he has my trans done. If he does I'll try to get it in tomorrow. Otherwise I'm waiting until next week.

And I would have much rather gone with the nv4500 but my dad wouldn't have it haha.

Yeah, i had 4.10s in my 2500... i hated them with the stock GSK, but i'm going to stick with them... I'm probably going to put 38" Super Swampers on it so 4.10s are going to be perfect...

Not really sure though, time will tell... i have 3.91 gearing now... stock from the 1500 gasser... i'm going to try to make the Chrysler 9,25" last through the winter... if it won't then **** it !

I put my 35s back on the other night, and I really think my mileage on the highway is going to go way up with 3.54s and 35s.
I tried to swap the gears last night, but when I pulled the case off I thought that the gear carriers were different, and therefore wrong. I talked to my tranny guy today and he said they will be different since they are different size gears
He also said I should probably wait to put the gears in because you have to get it in there just right. I'm not sure, but I'm not going to risk it. It won't take but an hour to finish when my dad gets back.
Right now, as she sits, I have to swap the rear gears, finish up wiring for gauges, cut the fenders so my huge tires can turn, and put the trans back in. I am really hoping to have everything done by next weekend.

I know my mileage got way better when going to 35" from 33"...

i didn't have to cut or trim at all to be able to turn... guess your rims have the wrong offset...

but yeah, you will have to adjust your gears 100% or they won't last the winter
