72fj here,had a question on steering wheel r&r any tricks except for disconecting batteries and letting the air bag de energize? factory manual sucks.any info would help.

 

Yup disconnect batteries and wait 1/2 hr. I think thats about it.

 

We have a Chilton repair manual for my brothers 12 valve that shows how to do it on his, but it's a '95. Your '00 24 valve might or might not be different in this scenario. A Chilton should have the info you need with excellent details and pics in it. You can buy one at a local parts store for less than 20 bucks. I do not work for them, I just think there handy for things like this.

 

pulled it off last nite.cake work,i was a little leary of a explosive device going off all i work on is hd diesel repair and big rigs do not have safty air restraints thanks for your input.

 

Did you put a different wheel on?

 

no just the factory steering wheel,after 340k on odom just worn out, this old girl needs to be cleand up for another 340k thank you/72fj
