Shy wouldn't be the word I would use... I think it's just a matter of preference. One of our mechanics has a '99 24V/5spd, X-cab dually. Black on Black, nearly stock with something silly like 60K on the clock. It's a sweet truck, but it just doesn't feel nasty like my 12V. He talks about programmers and I look at him like he's an idiot. I talk about turning it up without a chip, and he looks at me like I'm an idiot. We're both die hard Cummins guys... it takes all types I guess

I guess rust free trucks aren't that big a deal in TX. Most people up here would pay that just for the rust free shell

I agree 100%. And the only cummins i have never owned is a ve pump. But ive had 2 12 valves, 3 vp trucks, 1 common rail 5.9, and one 6.7. And for everyday driving i like the 24v and being able to tune it on the fly. If i had the time and money I would own a 12 valve any day of the week for a play truck. But you are correct... Its all a matter of preference and what you want to have and do with your truck.
