benched pump wont start

ok sorry i havent posted this sooner. The problem was a shim fell out causing the plumger and barrel to bind together. Under the barrel are two horse shoe shaped shims when you bench the pump the bottom ones slide and fall out without you knowing. When you tighten the nuts back down it only has the top shim, causing the barell to get cocked in there. Also not all the shims are the same thickness some are .030in and some are .025in. Dont get them mixed up if they do fall out. It took us a wile to find that lost shim. So to anyone trying to bench there pump this all might be a good thing to keep in mind and watch out for.

Yeah, losing a shim is no good. Glad you got it figured out.

It's not called benching the pump without a flow bench, its called racking the pump for getting her done..
