NV4500 Swap Question??

NV4500 Swap Question??
I bought a NV4500 transmission, planning to swap it in exchange for my 47RE. My plans are to buy a Valair 1-3/8 Billet Input Shaft, Rebuild Kit and a new Main shaft to help fix the 5th gear problems, and unsure which clutch to go with, South bend or Valiar, And hoping to find a NV271D Transfer Case to bolt up to the back of it. I would just like to clarify everything I need for the swap, I already have the transmission, steering collumn and a Manual Transmission Cab. I feel like the only thing more I need is the slave cylinder, pedal assembly, and shifter boots.
1st: Can I still use my ECU in my truck, and just leave the transmission port on it unplugged, not causing any crazy lights going off on the gauge cluster?
2nd: The hole for the tranny shifter and t-case shifter are connected holes inside the cab, how do the too boots bolt up?
Thanks!!

I don't have a bell housing yet, but It's in the works. I was only wondering about the boots so i know what to look for, and if I still used my t case boot from the auto, or if the t case boot and tranny boot were one item with the manuals..

you can use the ECU in ur truck, just have to cut n splice come wires for the clutch saftey switch n reverse lights. when i did mine, the trans temp light came on so i just pulled the bulb. you will also need the driveshafts from a manual truck. the 47re is longer than the nv4500 so your rear driveshaft needs to be longer n the front shorter. you dont really need to change steering columns, i just knocked the pin out n removed the auto shift lever. if your going with a dual disc clutch i would strongly recommend gettin the hydraulics from southbend or valair, it made a big difference for me.
What do you mean by a manual transmission cab?
good luck with the swap. its really not that bad

I know fore sure I am planing on buying the Valair Hydraulics, but I am not sure what clutch I want yet... I wanted one for 500HP but I also want it DailyDriver Nice. Do you have any suggestions? When I said I have a manual cab, I meant the cab on my truck originally came with a manual, so the hole is already cut for the transmission shifter. (I crashed my truck, so I had to put a new cab on, the cab I have now being that).
Thanks!

I am putting a 12v in a 99 ford superduty whith a nv4500 and a 273 tcase that I turned into a manual
1 the fifth gear fix this is the only real fix for it
NV4500 Transmission 5th Gear Repair
the tranny parts the best place I have found for them are Midwest Transmission Center
these guys know their trannies it is not just someone that looks it up in a book they really know what will work and what wont
the 271 273 trans you can use either a dodge or ford they are the same you have to do changes to the rear drive-shaft any way
you can turn the 273 into a manual shift with out too much problem
esof elimination build - Page 3 - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
on post 40 I just took it and ground it so it is flush with the stub coming out of the tcase and when I changed my input shaft I drilled and taped and 3/8 hole
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/pi...ictureid=90542
now the bummer the input on the transfer case will have to be changed to a 29 spline
http://www.allstategear.com/ has them at the most reasonable price

you don't need to change cabs just pedals
the shifter boot will work just have to change modify rods
any other stuff just drop me a pm or post it

oh one more thing
the 271-273 dodge uses a different yoke so you will have to change it for the rear trans anyway
the dodge uses a slip yoke the ford uses a direct bolt
I have the drive shaft part off the ford when I had my drive-shaft shortened you will have to check measuments
ford superduty transfer case | eBay
this is what the ford tcase looks like note the output for the rear
99 00 01 02 03 04 FORD F250 SUPER DUTY TRANSFER CASE | eBay
04-06 07 08 09 10 DODGE RAM 2500 PICKUP TRANSFER CASE | eBay
for some reason the dodge ones are more expensive than the fords
ford 99-03 uses a 271-273
dodge 05-08 271-273
might want to double check years on the dodge
