98 Dodge Ram, front end making noise over bumps
#21
I chased a similar sound for a couple months, I could tell shocks wern't very old, and completley went through the rest of the front end. Still clunking, so I got mad and ordered a set of bilstein's, come to find out the retard who put the shocks on used a bolt a size smaller than what it was supposed to be on the bottom of the rf shock.

Yea I figured I should just do both if that is the issue. Its not really a knock it is more a squeaking noise, as the front end sways down after a bump or when I jump on the front end it makes the squeaking noise. I will check again to see if there is any oil residue but I didn't see any. How do I know if it is faulty sway bar links or frame bushings? When I jump on the bumper it really sounds like it is coming from driver side shock. I am going to get my wife to jump on it and try to narrow it down a bit more. Thanks for the help.

So I narrowed it down to the upper ball joint that was making all the noise. Went ahead and replaced the upper and lower ball joints on both sides and now no squeaking. What a pain in the rear end job that was, took me all day to get those buggers lose, but got it done. Thanks yall for the posts!
