I don't have a picture but check the whole linkage system first as thats more likely with the complaint you've had so far like i said DO NOT forget the frame mount and tranny and motor mounts. Can you feel each gear position as you move the shift lever?

oops sorry missed a post do you get all gears with the pliers?

GENERAL INFORMATION
Check linkage adjustment by starting engine in Park and Neutral. Adjustment is acceptable if the engine starts in only these two positions. Adjustment is incorrect if the engine starts in one position but not both positions
If the engine starts in any other position, or if the engine will not start in any position, the park/neutral switch is probably faulty.
LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT
Check condition of the shift linkage. Do not attempt adjustment if any component is loose, worn, or bent. Replace any suspect components.
Replace the grommet securing the shift rod or torque rod in place if either rod was removed from the grommet. Remove the old grommet as necessary and use suitable pliers to install the new grommet.
1. Shift transmission into Park.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Loosen lock bolt in front shift rod adjusting swivel.
4. Ensure that the shift rod slides freely in the swivel. Lube rod and swivel as necessary.
5. Move transmission shift lever fully rearward to the Park detent.
6. Center adjusting swivel on shift rod.
7. Tighten swivel lock bolt to 10 Nm (90 inch lbs.).
8. Lower vehicle and verify proper adjustment.

Yeah itll click to all gears. When problem first started I could put it in drive and would shift fine. Then when I came to a stop it would downshift fine too. Just I was screwed if i needed to back up. When the valve oby was out the parking paw came out. But i Rocked the truck to put it back in. Is there something special about puttin it in?

I think post 6 has a decent picture. As long as the park paw (or pawl) is lined up with the annulus gear it should be fine. I guess the park sprag could be stuck or sticking

So tranny was just built, new solenoids, valve body, tc. Soon as i turn the key on it goes straight to 3rd. Had it hooked to a very expensive scanner and thats what it said. So new 3-4 shift solenoids. And nothing. Now I noticed if u take the 4x4 lever and put it in nuteral and try to push it ...... Its stays in gear and wont budge... Idk
