You can do nozzles but you should still take them to a shop and have them pop tested and flow matched.

Alligator had a HELLA deal on DDP Injectors a couple weeks ago I missed by a day after mine had been rebuilt. As far as the Injection pump. If you don't feel comfy with doing it you could ship it to a shop to have the work done. But you should definitely do it. And prolly magnaflux the oil cooler so you KNOW it doesn't have any cracks. Its worth doing cause its about a $300 part. Get your Pyro tap done while the exhaust is off. and get all you mechanical gauges plumbed and wired in while the motor is out of the bay including one for oil pressure. Good call on getting rid of the marine injectors. Not knocking them but there are better and affordable options. If you have 4X4 get a track bar bracket and Heim joint mod for the same reason as the gauge work. Im jealous too. Im wanting to start a build for when the motor I have succumbs to the years of abuse prior to my ownership of the princess.

Ive actually owned the truck for about 10 years, ive installed all the suspension fixes, guages etc, rebuilt everything else over the years. once this new engine is in, she'll be like a new truck.

im going to call alligator about injectors.

I don't see the deal they had!?? $300 for new 70+hp Stage 1 I think. money right but model not sure. I was somewhat POed at myself. I was gonna say fuel delivery to the injector pump but you surely have dealt with that.

Since this is along the forum. Is the build a bolt together job or id there some tuning to the setup aside from pump timing. with balancing charge air to fuel injection? seems like it should but I don't find lot of details on it. other than "some adjustment" to this and that. but no detail to how its done. Im sure its redundant to the sages of the forum but if the reply could link a prior post.

Im dont quite understand what your asking there.

Anyhow, I got ahold of alligator today, dropped a little over 1800 on some cool guy stuff.

Steed speed exhaust manifold T3
DDP 9hp stage 3 injectors
191 delivery valves
4k GSK

I have to say, every time ive called over there those guys are always super knowledgeable and willing to help me out. this is the first time ive dropped coin with em, but ive bugged them a few different times for knowledge.

So thanks to all the guys over at alligator! Too bad the big shop local to me doesn't operate the same way.

I was wondering about how to balance charge air to the fuel delivery. So that you get all the power you can out of the fuel that you will be injecting into the cylinders with the pump/injector mods.

thats what timing/tuning the pump afc/fuel plate etc is all about.

So you bolt all that stuff up and set the pump timing and engine timing. then all that HP and torque just shows up. With no prior calculation to how much charge air is mixing with the fuel that is available. If it is not are there threads that I could research to find out how this and the timing setup and how you decide to grind the plate.

Ill try to answer that. these engines are all mechanical, with mechanical fuel injection systems. there are no computers to tune.

i suppose you could sit at a desk and calculate your air/fuel ratio, but those calculations dont go anywhere unless you go out to the truck and tune your pump. so I suppose yes, if you bolt on a big cam, a big turbo, and max out a pump, the power just "shows up".

For me, I am relying on the advice of many different experts on 12v engines, who have set up many different rigs with these parts. It will get me close, to where I can fine tune within the pump based on how my truck is running, IE. smoke at idle, EGT's vs. turbo spool etc.

I am by no means an expert. But it seems to me that these 12 valves are very simple to diagnose and dial in. they make lots of power, so they are pretty forgiving.

I think as long as you have a few basics like a fuel pressure, EGT, and manifold pressure gauge, you could pretty well dial this engine in by the seat of your pants.

If you arent building your own manifolds, turbo, cam, etc, then you are using off the shelf parts. there arent many variables with off the shelf parts, and the math has already been done and is easily available.
