This is just a wild **** thought but maybe it could be your Crank Position Sensor (CPS).....

I would probably blame most of the bad mpg on your right foot

I know on my 24v (granted this is a 12v with a CPS not a CSS) the CSS was causing it to stumble really hard. So figured I would throw it out there.

Not saying at all that is the problem. But a CPS is a crank position sensor and a CSS is a camshaft sensor.

You don't have to worry about the cps or anything alike causing your miss, those inputs are only taken into consideration on electronically controlled engines. It may not hurt to look into slipped timing. Too many things could cause poor economy and even your miss off idle but you gotta start with the smallest/easiest and start ruling things out. I'd look into air in the system first then see what it's cost to have the timing checked and then DV's
