Here's a little update.... Shortly after I posted (like within weeks ) my fuel gauge started being erratic again. Damn. Finally got around to dropping the tank and examining, figuring that 50 cents divided by 10-12 years is still 4-5c/year, and not really something to complain about..... Well, the repair was still intact! The sender's mounting screws had wallered out the plastic on the assembly tower (it probably has a real name), and the whole sender was just floating free, tethered by the little electrical connection. After my son and I laughed and said, in our gravelly-voices we use for impersonations, "Well, THERE'S yer PRAWWBLUM!" we fixed that with new screws and a little judicious drilling. Add 20 cents to the previously-invested 50 cents. Seems to be back to being reliable! Accuracy-of-read, however, is related to the sender's altitude inside the tank. When it read just under 1/2, it took 23gal to get to neck-slosh full. (that tells me that the sender's about 20% closer to the bottom of the tank than it should be, but, I'm not going to fine-tune it.)
