truck wont start

Well i went ahead and removed the lift pump, a new one is on the way. the pump looks like its been replaced before being that it has regular black silicone smeared all over it, but it is a carter pump, made in usa. when i tilted it back fuel came out of the plunger area, wouldn't that indicate a ripped diaphragm? theres a relief hole near the plunger just like on a water pump, im thinking this is a weep hole to indicate a shot pump, am i wrong?
this truck is turning out to be a bigger headache then my gas truck, cummins reliability... big woop, run it out of diesel 2 times and it needs a pump? come on, my brothers duramax has ran out of diesel several times and he has never ran into any problems, an d the truck is twice as fast and twice as reliable as mine. so whats up with the p7100 being so great? Not to rag on my own truck, i love the truck and the fact that it comes with better front running gear then chevy but im starting to think theres a little bit of hype to these trucks.

you ran the pump out of fuel twice, have no idea what your fuel pressure is, and wonder why the pump failed or wonder why your truck isnt reliable? got news for ya, none of this is the trucks fault. As for the dmax ... just wait until it needs a set of injectors

If fuel ran out the plunger then its a good chance that is the leak...good easy way to test for leaks is to use a air pump ..i use one made for filling air matresses...i wrap a towel around thwe hose and stick it in the fuel filler. turn it on and pressurize the system with air. check for leaks. my biggest leak was on top the fuel tank. also clean your prefilter screen located under the pre heater, chances are running it dry may have caused you to suck crap into the system.

mod your truck like i've modded mine (my sig) and your brothers Dmax will be the least of your worries...
i've abused my truck in every single possible way, i had a dmax before put EFI Live on it this and that... suncoast IV transmission and ended up toasting the piston rings on it while racing a ford... stopped paying and gave it to repo....
not that the dmaxes are bad... i just like my cummins a whole lot better
