Default truck wont start

I ran the truck out of fuel and the injection pump started to hang up as its done in the past, so i shocked the fuel filter with 2 cycle oil and cranked it and the pump instantly freed up, it must have just been really dry. but the thing is it will only sputer after i bleed the air out of the system, then theres air in it again, i simply cant get the system to bleed. do i need to try harder or do you think the lift pump is bad? being that the pump has seized in the past that could easily indicate a bad lift pump, no?

so basically, the pump is free and working but i cant get all the air out of the system, thus it only sputters.... it ran fine before, all this came from running the truck clean out of fuel.

the IP or LP is roasted...need a fuel pressure gauge to figure out which. running these out of diesel is one of hte worst things to do for fuel system components

i know its horrible for the fuel system, to make a long story short my brake line poped and i plowed down 2 trees and broke my tie rod and got stuck, everyone left and told me to come back for it but the truck would have been stripped if i did that so i spent the night with the truck and left it running. barely had enough gas to get it out of the woods and onto a flat bed.

how can i check the fuel pressure, do i need an adapter or a special tool? ive just got a regular fuel pressure tester that i use on my gas truck.

Well i went ahead and removed the lift pump, a new one is on the way. the pump looks like its been replaced before being that it has regular black silicone smeared all over it, but it is a carter pump, made in usa. when i tilted it back fuel came out of the plunger area, wouldn't that indicate a ripped diaphragm? theres a relief hole near the plunger just like on a water pump, im thinking this is a weep hole to indicate a shot pump, am i wrong?

this truck is turning out to be a bigger headache then my gas truck, cummins reliability... big woop, run it out of diesel 2 times and it needs a pump? come on, my brothers duramax has ran out of diesel several times and he has never ran into any problems, an d the truck is twice as fast and twice as reliable as mine. so whats up with the p7100 being so great? Not to rag on my own truck, i love the truck and the fact that it comes with better front running gear then chevy but im starting to think theres a little bit of hype to these trucks.
