just had the motor rebuild it idles fine but when it mash it and let off it dies any ideas

 

What's your idle speed set at?

600 in gear with ac on

 

There's yer problem... Needs to be @ about 800 in Drive w/ ac compressor engaged... Maybe even 850-900 if you're using the not-super-accurate dash tach. If you're using a high-dollar whoop-dee-doo shop tach, 800 should be good.

 

thanks will having the timing at 17.5 have any effect

 

For that question, you gotta wait for a hot-rod diesel guy to show up. My answer was for stock timing, and I don't know back from forward about very-far advanced fuel-squirts.

Hell! He might tell you 600 should'a worked, or that 1000 is marginal.

What is done to the truck?

 

I idle at about 500 and I only have that problem when the engine is cold

 

it has a hx 40 turbo no fuel plate 50 hp injectors and i adjusted the idle and it quit unless i hold it to the floor and let off it will bog down and almost die and its setting 750 rpms in gear
