knocking issues
ok my truck was running fine the only pronlem it had was that it stayed cold all the time and than it started knocking so I shut it down on the side of the road I called my buddy and he pulled me home, I checked my radiator because a day before that radiator fluid was erupting out of the water reservoir so I checked it and it had oil in it, I took the head off and I find out that my pistons had a thick layer of carbon on top and my head gasket was trashed so I tought that was the problem, I put a new headgasket, thermostat and injection pump, I change the pump because it had a freightliner pump and the timing was awful, I finished it this weekend and cranked it everything went great exept for a rought knocking sound it makes the truck shake a little bit the motor was rebuild and it had about 11 thousand miles Im thinking is piston rings or a bearing in the bottom end. What do yall think?
I don't think piston rings would make a knocking sound. Did you notice anything odd while you had the head off? Scuffing on the cylinder walls? Did you rotate the motor over at all with the head off and take a look at things?
yes I did and yes it had some scuffing and I used a flex hone to smooth everything

I pressure checked the pistons and #5 gives me half of the pressure I should get, I guess is time to take the motor and strip it down FML.
