mine wouldn't go much past 25psi until i gave it more fuel to play with... grind your plate to at least a #100 you will probably see 25-30psi..

i wouldn't recommend more on a AUTO truck...

how hot should it get with the plate cut? and what about stock auto tranny will it slip?

its going to run hotter, when the tranny locks on overdrive and you punch it it smokes and thats all heat right there. If your tranny is still good it shouldnt slip with just that. but i WOULD NOT recommend anything else until you upgrade Converter and valve body. its a Big investment but deff well worth it!!!
