Default Timing pin cover

so my timing pin is no longer in the holder. any ideas on how to plug the hole that's left behind? i know you can replace the timing pin but if i can strip out the torx bit fasteners that hold it on, its not coming out easily. any ideas to plug it up?

The timing pin on the gear case, not the pump.

So where is it that you think the pin went to...? I have my timing case off at the moment, and if I recall correctly, the pin is pushing into the case from the iside..?

No you dont remove the cover......thers a snap ring that holds the pin in, but is a bitch to see and get to.. i never put the snap ring back on, and nvr have lost a timing pin, it has an oring on it and as long as the oring is ther its a pretty tight fit and very hard to pull out ne ways

You dont have to take anything apart to get to the timing pin. I litteraly just used mine to time the pump to 19.5* And yes it will come out but not without a little pulling force. It is a pain in the but to get to though. The pin is on the engine tucked inbetween the vacume pump and injection pump.

I hate to resurrect an old thread but I had the same problem today on my 93 D350. I attempted to lash my valves and found that the timing pin was frozen in the bore. After prying on the pin I was able to pop it from the bore and noticed that the o-ring was swollen up from age. I removed the o-ring and was able to find TDC without issue. Any suggestions on how to re-install the little locking ring with teeth....... to keep the pin from falling out?

thanks from a noob
