Default Slipped Timing?

Just trying to get a heads up here from the experts! My fuel pressure is usually around 20-25psi at idol, and pegs out the 35 psi when in the throttle, now it is about 28-30 at idol. RPM at idol is usually 800, now it is just under 500. Last tue egt's are about 300 higher when in the throttle? I think the timing slipped maybe? Thanks on advance for the help!

anyone?

Sounds like slipped timing with a worn cam lobe on the fuel pump maybe. Or return valve could do it I believe, I'd look into that first. It's Pretty easy to check if your timing is still at stock.

Default Slipped Timing?

Does it even matter how the injection pump gear sits in the crank case. I know it has it be timed at the pump. You know how ur cam and crank gear have to line up

OK,
Pin timed it and it was still in spec. I called a diesel shop in town and the Cummins guy there said if you put the needle on the pump at the bottom of the window instead of the middle that is about 4 deg. Anyone else heard of doing this? Also I was under the assumption that the stock is 12*, the more I read on here it is 14.5* on the 215 pump. While I had it pin timed in clockwise rotation on the crank, I put the pointer at the bottom of the window and it ran fine, but I could hear it floating the valves a bit. I put it back at stock and ordered the timing kit for the plunger. Still cant figure out why I have more fuel pressure all the sudden?

You probably weren't hearing valves float... More just the louder diesel knock.
