Default rear lift blocks

hey guys i got my blocks for my rear end. there just 3 inches. i bought the nice tuff country ones, 3 inches wide the whole 9 yards. there for my truck i doubled checked. but when i go to install them the demesions dont even come close to my stock ones. it looks dumb. and the whole machined out of the top of the block for the centerpin isnt even big enough for the centerpin to go trough. i can get a few pics today, i wonder if there was a mess up in packaging. because i dont see how these can be the right ones. any help would be great

thats a fairly common problem ive had with clocks doing that as well. normally you have to take a grinder to the pin on the bottom of the leaf spring and grind the edges down the slightest bit so that itll fit. ive had to do that with every truck ive ever lifted just about and ive never once had a problem doing it that way

ok, my buddy works at a machine shop so i pry will just have him bore the hole on the block out more tommorow. i would just assume they would be the same size as the stock ones(length and width)

i wouldnt do that especially if the block isnt solid. they are cast it can ruin the integrit of the block. just grind down the nub on the bottom of the spring. its free, easy and takes a total of about ten minutes

I know that you are probably looking for an inexpensive lift in the rear of your Dodge, but I wouldn't do it the way you are describing.

First, get with Tuff Country and talk to a service rep. The blocks have to fit or you will fold up your rear suspension. If they don't make some that fit, then find another maker (check BDS). Is there a chance that the blocks go on the other side of your factory blocks? They do have a taper... But, whatever you do, don't run those blocks. You'll be sorry and it might cost you a ton if it causes a wreck.

Second, it would be better all around if you went with new springs instead of blocks. Adding blocks also adds axle wrap and a host of other issues. Not a good way to go at all. If new springs are out of the question, you might try add-a-a leaf and shackle combinations instead of the block.

Just trying to save you a major headache down the road. FWIW, I've built about 20 full-on off-road trucks and both of my kiddos are in the 4x4 business. Tuff Country is not the premier producer of off-road hardware -- they are rather the K-mart version... I've noticed that all their blocks are intended on replacing any factory offering, not in addition to that.

you can get 3 or 4 1/2 inc add a leafs for 60 or 80 buxs, thats what i put in mine. i like tuff country stuff but i had the 3inc leafs in and in 3yrs i snapped both of them in half now i have sky jacker 4 1/2s, i beat the hell out of my truck tho, its been air born more than once and i dont have a track bar on the rear end so the axle will articulate so much that the 35" push the fenders in pretty far
