Default Boost ?

I've got this 95' 5.9 12valve with a NV4500 mounted to it....

I'm experiencing a huge dose of lag....

in 1st gear (i know it's short) i feel no boost...

in 2nd gear i get boost late, at revs 2700~ and up...

in 3rd gear i get boost at 2000~ and up...

in 4th gear 1900~ and up...

in 5th gear i'm unsure.... think around 1750 revs...

is this normal ?? what can i do to get less lag, i know it's not wastegated... i've been wondering if the HX35 is just this big ?

a pic wont tell you the size housing. should be a 12cm housing iirc on a stick shift. i dont know what normal boost numbers are considering ive never driven my truck in stock form. but they do seem a little high rpm to start boosting at considering your pulling max power at 2200rpm if you dont have any mods in your pump. maybe someone with a stock truck will chime in

edit: i just noticed you said 2nd goes 2700-up.

what is done to your truck? a stock truck stops fuelin around 2200

Whats your fuel pressure at? If somebody has boost problems it is typically one of two things: boost leak (which doesnt seem to be your problem) , or your IP is not getting enough fuel which could be caused by many things. the fuel systems from the tank to the IP in our trucks are not the highest quality in the world.

ya put a guage on it and check your fuel pressure, sounds like you might be running out of fuel

i thought the manuals would rev to 3k or so and the autos cut out at like 2200, i have a 96 manual and it will rev to 3 no problem and cuts out at 95mph, my 95 auto wouldnt go past 2500 stock, 95mph and when i put the 3ks gsk i can go to 3k and 120mph or more

Get a boost gauge on it first

Ok, went under the hood and did a little research....

Looks like someone has taken OFF the wastegate and put a "cork" in the vacuum pipe...

don't know if the wastegate is shut or open, but i will go shopping tomorrow for boost, fuel press and pyrometer

oh and i traveled 1200kilometers this weekend and only used up 150liters of DIESEL

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Pulled off the silencer ring (forgot this was possible), turbo sounds like it's spooling all the time.... fuel problem ???

What are the cons' of plugging the wastegate closed ??? is it too much for the 5.9 ?

We plug the waste gates on the stock chargers all the time or use a boost elbow. never had any problems doing either
