My cummins as well as a handful of other 12v owners trucks run fine when cold until boost comes in about 1800rpms, then it will sputter until it finally warms up.

^Not neccesarily. My timing didn't slip, in fact it was advanced a bit, and it would still do this.

^Mine had the same symptoms as above so either way it wouldnt hurt to get it checked/advanced to 16* anyways and beside your truck was fubar from the begining and a new motor solved your issues...
