Default Manual Trans Issues

Bud called and said his truck (95 2wd nv4500) has no gears exept third. Wondering if I knew what was up with it. I havnt had a chance to look at it yet but he said it'll only move in third no others, which I've never heard of before? Just tryin to get some ideas of what might be going on before I deem the tranny junk.

He said third but didn't the shift pattern list 1st as L? So in that case it might be fouth then?

sounds like his linkage broke/disconnected, or there is no hydraulic fluid to actuate the clutch. Or the tranny is fried. Had a 2005 civic and let a buddy borrow it.. downshifted to first gear going 50mph or so. Car made a loud bang, and wouldn't leave 4th gear. It drove fine in 4th gear but had to slip the **** outta the clutch to get it moving. Needed a new trans.

I don't know about the dodge whether they listed it 1st or L.

If its 4th, something is stopping it from transferring power from the input shaft to counter shaft. 4th is 1:1 so it pretty much always works, everything lines up so the power is just going in one end and out the other straight through.
I was rolling down the freeway about 75 when it felt like it slid out of 5th, went to engage it again, nothing there. downshifted to 4th, figured I lost 5th, until I stopped to get fuel and realized I ONLY had 4th. Here's some pics.

best way to diagnose is probably take the top plate off. Lets you see everything without losing any expensive fluid, its just a pain to do.
