I already checked out the wires and grounds though and they look awesome. But maybe I'll borrow a voltmeter and see whats up. What exactly does that 39$ rebuild kit come with?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

On Larrys page, for the starter rebuild stuff, if I order the replacement solenoid and replacement brushes, my starter will in essence be brand new right? Since those 2 are pretty much the only things that fail in these starters?

Which of those brushes should I order? There are 2 diff brushes, both are for 1994-2006 cummins, both require soldering, but there is a few dollar difference. Which ones should I get?

One is for just the brushes and one is the who assembly with the brushes installed already. I never replaced the brushes on minw when I rebuilt it... All I did was the plunger and contacts for 39 bucks...

Ohhh cool. Why does it still require soldering if the brushes are already installed though?

Did you have the same issue as me when you replaced the plunger? Because I'm going to be PISSED if I get this thing put back on the truck and it still doesn't work because the brushes are mess up.

I really want your common rail.

Everythings forsale for the right price

As for my starter would click and barley engauge then wouldn't work period.

As for the sodering you still have the two wire leads (shown in the pic) you have to reconnect to the starter.

If you can soder god for it and yes you will have a "new" starter. But like I said I didnt replace them and it says on the website they last awhile. If you do it id just buy the assembly, easier and faster imo.

Ya screw that.. the "right price" for common rails is beyond ME right now

But I really appreciate the input brother! I think I'll just try the plunger for now. HOPEFULLY that fixes my issue. If not I'll headbutt the cement a few times, come on here, bitch about it, then buy the brushes

No prob bud I like to encourage people to do stuff for themselves to better educated themselves on their truck and plus it saves money which means more mods! Heres what you have to do for the rebuilt kit with plunger and contacts.
Contacts install

Oh I'm all for doing my own work, I just always thought that doing something like this took a lot of work and knowledge. I've found a local on this board who lives 15-20mins away and he's going to help me do some work and I'm paying him with my aluminum headache rack

I just really hope this helps. It's becoming lenghthier inbetween starts (not always.. sometimes I can hit it just right the first time), and its such a pain in the butt!

Thanks for the link to the walk thru too
