loss of power and white smoke
while driving down the highway i lost power and white smoke was coming out and then it started running fine as long as i wasnt on the throttle to much its a 97 12 valve cummins

White smoke is fuel not being burned properly according to the Exxon website. Black smoke is when the diesel is "over-fueled". So I would say you might have a timing problem, as another poster already said.
