how do i pin the crank to remove these bolts on an automatic truck 97 dodge

i just take out the radiator and intercooler (makes room to work) and hit it with an impact guns. spins the bolts right out

just crawl up uder there and give them a few quick jerks and they will come right off.
saves extra work too.

But when taking the balencer off wouldnt you have to mark where it was on the crank so when you put it on the engine isnt out of balece? or does it not matter what way its put on?

well if it really matters to you take a sliver sharpy and mark one of the bolt holes after you take the bolt out

it doesnt matter at all. ive had mine off 10 different times, never marked it, and never once has ever performed any different

If you have 5 speed, put it gear and apply the parking brake. An impact will work or just quick jerks. They are torqued to 92 ft-lbs IIRC so it may take a little force.
