how do you know when the starter is goin bad what does it do?

clicks, some times it does nothing

i thought that it clicks when the battery connection is bad. How much is a starter and how hard is it to do?

You likely dont need a starter...

LarryB's Dodge starting problems solved here.


Get the new contacts and plunger, Solenoid Saver Diode, and add-on Starter Relay kit. If your batteries are good - you wont have any starting problems for a very long time.

I just did contacts and plunger in mine. Not Larry B's but bought locally cause I was in a hurry to get this fixed before I was left stranded. I think it cost me like $24. Pretty cheap fix compared to a new starter.

there easy to pull out disconnet your batterys, undo your cables to the starter then pull your three bolts off

mine started crankin really slow and the longer it cranked the faster it got.

after you turned the key and the truck started my starter used to stay engaged. I had to shut the truck off take the key out and wait for the starter to stop cranking.

Installed LarryB's kit and have never had another problem since.

I just ordered the contacts and plunger my question is do i need to pull the starter to install them or is it easy enough to do it with the starter on the truck? thanks. mine wont click but somtimes it just does nothing when i turn the key to start it just goes dead no clicking or anything after i turn the key off then back on a few times it will start.
