My 96 was the same way when i bought it and it was just the tranny cable had been pulled all the way out. I pushed it all the way toward the throttle linkage and it fixed it.

 

hmmm see it was hunting before our TV cable was moved all the way out... i'm thinking about moving it to the middle of it's travel opposed to one extreme or the other. but i got the new lines and bushings in the throttle linkage and it hasn't started hunting yet, hope it doesn't also hope the truck is still ok... less than 10k on a $2200 rebuild it'd be a shame if the clutch packs are out of it already...

 

alright; so i ordered everything off of radioshack with shipping it totalled like 20 bucks... we'll see if it does the trick... when ever the parts get in....

 

thanks for all the help and suggestions; adjusted the TV cable and installed the potentiometer and so far everything is working like clock work. there's afew small hiccups where the TC lockup will kick out and wont lock again when the OD if off; just tweak the **** and then set it back to where it was and its all good. so thanks a million guys
