Engine Oil
#22
I can't think of anything specific I might have. I do have a voice over presentation on the new CJ-4 oils from 2 years ago. Not able to post. I wanted to make a link to my website, but file is too big for me to download. I could email to someone on this forum if they had a way to post it up??
I do have some compatative data on the older 15W-40 oil on my site:
Comparative Data
It is a little dated and is comparing the oils when they were CI-4+ I believe. Many of these are only found as CJ-4 now, but it's something to look at
It is a large file and takes a minute to download. The 5W-30 gasser oil is mixed in the data so be sure you are looking at the right graphs.

I'm not trying to offend anyone, But Rottella is considered one of the worst oils to alot of folks. Most of your shops wont run it. DO NOT RUN AN OIL STABALIZER LIKE LUCAS. Your oil, If a good quality name brand lubricant should never need an additive! I've seen more harm done with additive like that than good! Again, before using rotella please do some research so you can make an informed decision regarding the well being of your engine.
Also, Saw a note about a K&N filter. I've seen issues there as well. The absolute best filter on the market for these trucks is the Fleetguard filters (Also Sold as Mopars). I suggest doing some research on this area as well!

I am not sure about what oil you run in your truck, but i know that Rotella T Meets the API SERVICE CI-4,CJ-4,CH-4,CG-4,SL,SJ,SF/SM. This oil is made by Shell, and has been used in diesel for a long time, and meets the PERFORMANCE requirments of ACEA E7, CATERPILLAR ECF-1-A,ECF-2,ECF-3, CUMMINS CES20081,DETROIT DIESEL, VOLVO,MACK ECT. ECT. To me the most important thing is to properly change your oil and filter, if you do so, you will never have any issues, you JUST NEED TO DO IT. I would like to see the actual test results of the breakdown qulitys and what not b4 i change my choice of oil. I am not saying that Rottella T is the BEST oil, But its sertenaly not a bad or "Worst" oil. I have had alot of useage with it, and have never had a problem. Lucas, it is not an oil additive it is a STABALIZER. , give us some real information. dont put good products down without the facts. I agree not to use lucas in new engines, it is not needed, wont help. but it will in older engines, there is testing to prove it, and i have also used it in almost all my vehicals, with 80,000 + miles. with no issues i also like the fleetgard filters but in my area there has been a shortage of them, i can get thoes k&n filters with the nut wich seem to work just fine, i still have great oil psi. Please, if your going to write a post, puting down products, give us factual reasons, not just because youve seen it or heard it. Thank you

Friend, In this shop we have over 70 years of combined diesel experience and 3 ASE techs, 1 being master tech x2.
I've got plenty of blackstone oil analysis and If need be I'll do some more and post them.
Also I've got pictures of what Lucas Oil Stabalizer will do, Also have oil analyisis we can do on that. There is testing to prove it? Maybe by lucas oil. trust me friend we see the results of these products on a daily basis. I'm not sayin rotella is the worst oil ,I'm saying theres better products out there!.An oil stabalizer is an oil additive. It has detergents and lubricants some are in your off the shelf oil. Some are not. The approvals and oil ratings dont show the complete picture. Heath being the Oil guy i'm sure will add in some of the technical information!

PS most of your oils come from the same place, Same design. In most cases the same engineers design the formula. With exceptions on things like Amsoil and so on. My concern with rotella is the additive packacke and the quick depletion of the additives in rotella!
Most any vendor on here can ship you your fleetgrd filters. There lightyears ahead of the K&N oil filter qualities! Nothing wrong with running a K&N if thats all youve got. I cant remember if it was fram or wix that came apart under high oil temps!
