The going from the cooler back into the trans? You do NOT want your temp probe there, that is where your fluid is going to be the coolest and you will get false readings. For the best results you will need to put it in your pan or on the line going from the trans. to the cooler.

ive heard pros and cons of installing it in the hot line.i know it would read the temp.right away after leaving the trans. but thats right after coming out of the tq. con. and as soon as the conv. unlocks, the temps. will always skyrocket regardless of the conditions the truck is running under whereas putting it in the pan tells you the temp. that the main body and parts of the trans. actually sees.thats what somebody at pdr told me.i will be pulling a 13,000 lb. 5er occaisionally if that matters.[no racing or sledding] thx

What would be interesting is getting a digital temp guage and two senders - one in the pan and one in the hot line with a switch between the senders. Then you can see the difference.
